Resin and Lead Time Outlook – Fall 2018

It’s been a few months since our last update, so we thought it would be a good time to touch base with you.

The resin market was relatively stable over the summer, so we’ve tried to keep our own pricing stable as well. The cost of freight and other operating expenses continue to rise, but so far we haven’t found it necessary to pass much of those increases on to our customers.

As for lead times, we’re currently looking at 2 to 3 weeks for all bag types. October and November are usually busy months for us, so if you know you have an order coming up, now would be a good time to let us know so we can schedule appropriately.

If you have any questions or comments about this update or would like to place an order, please send us an email or call us at (800) 272-2634. However you choose to contact us, we’ll be happy to help you get the bags you need at a competitive price.

Thank you for your business, and we hope to hear from you soon.

It’s Been a While—How About a Resin Pricing and Lead Time Update?

It’s been a few months since our last resin pricing update, so we thought it would be a good time to bring you up to speed on recent developments.

The $.04/lb resin price increase that was on the table for February did go through, but a $.03/lb decrease announced by many producers in March erased much of it. Since then, the market has remained fairly flat, but there’s now a $.03/lb increase on the table for June. As we like to say, it’s too early to tell if that increase will go through, but we will let you know of any major developments.

As for lead times, we’re currently looking at 2 to 3 weeks for all bag types. July is usually a busy month for us, so if you know you have an order coming up, now would be a good time to let us know so we can schedule appropriately.

If you have any questions or would like to place an order, feel free to send us a message, use our quote form, or just call us at (800) 272-2634. However you choose to get in touch, we’ll be happy to help you get the bags you need at a competitive price.

Thank you for your business, and we hope to hear from you soon.

We Are Now ISO 9001:2015 Certified!

We are thrilled to announce we’ve received our ISO 9001:2015 certification! This new standard replaces our previous ISO 9001:2008 certification and is effective immediately. Please feel free to view or download our certificate of registration [PDF].

The biggest change to the standard is the new core concept of risk-based thinking. While this has always been part of the standard, the new version gives it increased prominence. In short, risk-based thinking is used to prioritize processes and drive improvement. This focus is intended to prevent undesirable outcomes such as nonconforming products and services.

ISO 9001:2015 brings a number of other benefits as well, including putting greater emphasis on leadership engagement, addressing supply chain management more effectively, and using simplified language and a common structure and terms. Overall, these changes are intended to allow organizations to focus less on documentation and more on managing processes.

One other change of note is that the new ISO 9001:2015 has seven quality management principles compared to the eight principles of our previous certification:

  1. Customer focus
  2. Leadership
  3. Engagement of people
  4. Process approach
  5. Improvement
  6. Evidence-based decision making
  7. Relationship management

As we mentioned in a previous blog post, our ISO certification is only the starting point for a successful customer relationship—we have to prove our products and services are as great as we say they are. Whether you’ve been a customer of ours for years or you’re just researching new poly bag suppliers, we look forward to offering you the high-quality products and customer service you deserve.

If you have any questions about our ISO 9001:2015 certification, please feel free to give us a call at (800) 272-2634 or send us a note through our contact page.

How to Save Money on Poly Bags

Good purchasing managers and buying agents are always looking for ways to save their companies money. For example, you probably found this blog post by being proactive and searching for a phrase like, “how to save money on poly bags?” Well, there are a couple ways you can try to do that. One way is to talk to your current supplier and see if they can work with you on price. Another way, which requires more work but can be much more fruitful, is to solicit quotes from multiple sources and ultimately switch suppliers. Whatever you decide, we believe there are a few things you should keep in mind when trying to save money on poly bags.

Instead of focusing solely on how to save your company money, we recommend a different approach: focusing on finding a supplier who brings your company value. We define value as the combination of product quality, reliability, customer service, and competitiveness.

First, let’s focus on quality. In our case, we always strive to produce the best poly bags for our customers. That means working closely with you to determine the appropriate dimensions, strength, blends, and additives for your applications, and then creating bags that meet those exact specifications. If your supplier can’t or won’t do that, then none of their other qualities, however positive they may be, won’t matter.

Next comes reliability. We always plan our production schedules so that you get you the bags you need when you need them. This means intelligent scheduling of planned jobs, leaving enough room for the inevitable hiccup or last-minute job along the way, and working with shippers who are quick and trustworthy.

Third, customer service is often overlooked when agents are looking for a new supplier. We recommend emailing or calling a potential supplier before you even switch just to see how responsive they are. If they don’t return your call within a day or take a week to reply to your email, will they treat you any better when you’re a paying customer? Maybe, but why take the risk? We pride ourselves on customer service that goes over and above before, during, and after the sale. Go ahead and see for yourself: call us at (800) 272-2634 or email us at  to see if we can meet your needs.

Finally, let’s talk about competitiveness, or price. It’s tempting to narrow your search to the supplier with the absolute lowest pricing, but we recommend against it. What we’ve traditionally seen with suppliers who have rock-bottom pricing is that they often cut corners in other areas to make up the difference. For example, they may not be using the high-grade resins you need for your applications, they may not have responsive customer service, or they may use slow, unreliable freight companies. Of course, this isn’t to say we think you should overpay for your poly bags or even that our own prices are high. Rather, what we’re saying is that our prices are extremely competitive, especially when you consider the total value you receive from doing business with us—customized bags made from high-quality resin, unmatched reliability, and customer service that goes over and above what you would expect.

As you can see, saving money on poly bags is more complicated than just seeking out the lowest price you can find. There are a number of factors you should consider, and we believe we’ve positioned ourselves to meet all of your most important requirements in a very competitive way.

If you’d like to see what kind of value we can offer you as your poly bag supplier, please give us a call at (800) 272-2634, send us an email at , or use our simple online form to request a quote. Thank you for your consideration, and we look forward to serving you.
